Whether it’s slow-cooked short ribs, a hearty casserole, or a healthy stir-fry bursting with seasonal vegetables, the collection of main course recipes found in this book will provide inspiration throughout the year.
Fresh spring vegetables, like sugar snap peas, leeks, and tender asparagus bring new life to baked pastas, creamy risottos, and fluffy frittatas. In summer, the garden bounty stars in lighter fare like braised meat dishes with diverse flavors, roasted and stir-fried seafood, stratas, and enchiladas. In autumn, root vegetables take a leading role in pot roasts, gratins, and rustic tarts while classic comfort foods, such as meat loaf and baked ziti with sausage, are back-to-school favorites. Rich and savory dishes like meat pies, fall-off-the-bone lamb tagines, spicy curries, herbed cassoulets, and warming stews feed a crowd and keep winter’s chill away. Williams-Sonoma One Pot of the Day offers 365 recipes for delicious, seasonal food that is made or finished in one pot, including many meatless and oven-to-table selections. Colorful calendars at the beginning of each chapter offer an at-a-glance view of the dishes best suited for the ingredients, occasions, and typical weather of the month. From January to December, you’ll find a variety of one-pot dishes to satisfy any craving and suit any meal, with accompanying notes offering ideas for variations, garnishes, and other tips. With this comprehensive book as your guide, you’ll discover an enticing recipe for every day of the year.
Full-color photographs enhance many of the recipes to help guide your cooking. You’ll be amazed at the wide range of dishes from which to choose—just open this book, check the calendar, and discover an exciting new one-pot dish to try.

I had a hard time rating this book.

My final analysis is a 5 for recipes and a 2 for 1 pot adherence.

I love it, everything I''ve made has been amazing. However, it''s not a 1 pot book. I actually haven''t made anything that took 1 pot. The recipes are also more complicated than you''d think for a 1 pot book.

I just made the bacon mac and cheese from February and it was amazing, rave reviews from the whole family (I served it with Kale salad). However, it took about an hour to make and 4 dishes....1 to cook macaroni, 1 to toast breadcrumbs and cook bacon, 1 to make sauce, finally another to combine and bake in oven.

A final thought, I opted for the kindle version because it was so much cheaper than the actual book. It''s obviously not formatted for Kindle and is hard to read even on my 17in laptop screen. The actual book is probably worth the price difference. However, I have been able to find the recipes I''ve made on the Williams Sonoma website (if you have the title of the recipe).

After making my first dish I realized this: Someone needs to explain to Williams Sonoma the concept of the one pot dish!
Yummy dinner but 2 sinks of dirty dishes left over <sigh>

I do not like how the book is organized either! The calender idea is cute but a pain to flip through if I am looking for something to do with the chicken in my fridge. They should have a better index.

The recipes are yummy. They are fairly easy to follow if you have some sense of cooking beyond boiling water and microwave meals. The photos are very pretty as well.

I am giving this book only 2 stars. Its not as advertised as "one pot". As my husband said when he walked into the kitchen, "Holy cow! I would hate to see their 2 pot cookbook!"

I''ve really enjoyed a lot of the One a Day series from Williams-Sonoma, but this one is a big disappointment. As other reviewers have noted, most of the recipes aren''t really one pot. In my mind, there are two things a one pot dish should do. It should be cooked in only one dish, and it should more or less be the entire meal. For example, the Classic Meatloaf for September 8 dirties a roasting pan, a large mixing bowl, and a platter. Even after using 3 dishes, the meatloaf isn''t exactly a complete meal. I''d still want to make a starch (ie. mashed potatoes) and a vegetable (ie. steamed green beans). Unless you''re content eating a big pile of nothing but meat for dinner, you''re probably going to dirty another 2 or 3 dishes for sides. All this is to say, the recipes in this book aren''t necessarily bad recipes, but they''re by and large not one pot meals.

Also be aware that this is a very meat heavy cookbook. The few vegetable based recipes seem more like side dishes than entrees. If you''re looking for veggie heavy stews and stir fries like I was, you''ll probably be disappointed. If you love ribs, roasts, and other meaty entrees and don''t mind doing a lot of dishes, this cook book could be a good one for you.

I''m a huge fan of Kate McMillan!!! Tried her sheetpan book and it was excellent, the recipes in here are definitely not one pot meals, its more like one pot kind-of for the main dish. But they are so good, I really like that her recipes are approachable, hard to mess up for an intermediate chef like myself, but still incorporate a few interesting ingredients and flavor combos each time (the sort of ingredient you still find at the store but you might not normally grab).

Good seasonal recipes. No Android Kindle search capability. No useful table of contents, No ability to select text for annotation. No changing of font size. Pretty much useless as an ebook.

Finally ordered this cookbook that we''ve been eyeing on WS''s website. Purchased on Amazon because of price and quick delivery. We have tried 11 recipes in the last 20 days of owning the book, and each meal made has been phenomenal. We will agree that the title is misleading. There are some recipes that instruct you to use multiple cooking items. We avoided that issue by using only a Dutch oven. Ordered additional copies of this book for gifts.

I can now just flip the pages and come up with some thing good. Or just chose a date, and that''s what I would cook that day. Really stops me from going to the store with that ," What am I going to cook today?" look on my face.

I was familiar with several of Williams-Sonoma cookbooks, slim, easy to read and follow. This book by comparison is easy to follow but has over 350 recipes for one pot meals! Used, it''s a great buy for the money.

I had to return this for a refund. All Kindle content I own is scalable to fit on my entire computer screen (currently, a 17" laptop), and I can adjust the font size (large), and number of columns (one)--except this book. When I tell it to show me one page, the page is centered in the middle of the screen, with impossibly small font, that isn''t zoomable or enlargeable. I had really hoped I could enjoy this book, and learn some new recipes. I''m very disappointed. However, I''ll still give it three stars, because I''ve had W-S cookbooks in the past, and I know they do educational, interesting stuff. I''m not gonna blame the author for the shortcomings of the Kindle version.
